Better Together

Colorado State University Multifaith and Belief Initiatives

The Multifaith & Belief Initiatives at CSU aim to focus greater attention on diverse spiritual, religious and secular (non-religious) belief identities by educating, programming, celebrating, providing spiritual well-being resources and promoting constructive engagement across belief differences.

Supporting Belief Inclusion

Our Mission and Goals

The task force recommends that Colorado State University invest in becoming a proactive civic space that prioritizes religious and belief-diversity and fosters productive engagement through dialogue, relationships, programs, and policy. The benefits to the university community include making good on our inclusive mission, recruiting and retaining a diverse student, faculty, and staff community, and advancing health and well-being efforts by expanding opportunities for exploring beliefs, values, meaning, and purpose. Lastly, prioritizing religious/belief pluralism offers students professional and civic competencies that position them well to be society’s next leaders.

The group had a surprising amount of representation of various faiths, practices, and spiritualities. Regardless of how I currently identify I walked into that space feeling like anyone could be there and feel heard.

This was the most gentle and affirming community that I've been a part of in my four plus years at this institution. My major takeaway from this experience is that CSU needs more spaces for people to heal themselves spiritually and emotionally with others.

CSU Graduate Student, Identifying as Spiritual

Normally I try to avoid talking about my religion, but this was a really inclusive forum and I felt welcome to share.

I have not seen a lot of interfaith encouragement other than this program at CSU. Participating in "Food for Thought" helped me to understand that it is not shameful that I do not identify with a certain religion; rather, it gives me the ability to appreciate everyone’s different views and try to understand them from an objective point of view.

The core values of CSU were exemplified from this program and made me feel more welcomed at CSU as a Jewish student.

I certainly have my preconceived notions of what people are like coming from different religions, but our topics of listening, family, shame, forgiveness, etc. reminds me that though life is walked and viewed through different lens, we are in the end walking the same path.

Our Fundraising Goals

Let’s Make it Happen.

Our current vision is a professional staff position in the Division of Student Affairs, supported by undergraduate work-study and graduate assistant employees. This budget includes funds for programming, professional development, community-based spiritual care support, and general operations. You can read more information about our funding needs here.

To make this bold vision a reality, roughly $175,000 is needed annually. Currently, this initiative runs solely on donations. Follow the link below, select “CSU Multifaith and Belief Initiatives” to donate.
